Celebrity Sketchbook

This is my sketchbook, a collection of drawings and sketches I've obtained in my measly Comic Convention hopping career. Many of these were drawn at the 2001 San Diego Comic Convention. Recently I got a sketch from John Kricfalusi, that brings my grand John K total to two!

Ren and Stimpy: My Best Friend

Me and my sister have been talking to John K's dad Mike on the net lately (very neat and manley guy) and Mike was kind enough to get this for me. I can picture Mike beating on John telling him to make it extra nice. Keep your eyes out for new Ren and Stimpy's next year!

Lee Weeks: Big Thing Lookin' Guy

This is my sister's. She bought it in a comic shop and it's supposed to be an original inked drawing. I don't know what it is except it's a Lee Weeks.

John Krikfalusi: Sven Pootin'

I came extremely close to missing out on John K. The line was closed but they let me in anyway. I didn't even know he was doing sketches.

Billy Tucci: Victoria Cross

Drawn on the cover of a San Diego Con Shi Tour Book 2001, Billy Tucci was the only guy I noticed offering colored sketches.

Adam Hughs: Somebody's Knockers

This is what you get when you ask Adam Hughs to sketch something on an index card. His response, "Don't know but I'll try to fit something on there..." It's unique, to say the least.

Jeff Smith: Bone Sketches

I totally missed out on Jeff Smith until a minute before the whole convention closed down. He was packing up and and stopped to sign a book for a little girl. I felt odd asking but hey, he signed my book and seemed happy to do so. The first is what he signed and the second is from one of 100 Bone chase cards from the 1994 Bone card set. I told Jeff that I was one of the 100 who managed to get one of these cards and he replied with a "Hey, that's great. That was quite a while back...." or some such. Don't quote me quoting him though. I was just happy to get an autograph and a Ted the Bug sketch.

Sergio Aragones: Groo Sketches

The first sketch was bought from Heroes Haven (local comic shop), the second is from the convention. The second is nicer and means much more too me (but I'm still keeping the first one).

Stan Sakai: Various Sketches

I think I stopped at Stan's booth twice, once to get an autograph and sketch, and the second time to tell him how much I enjoyed the Groo panel discussion. Not only did I get to talk to Stan, but I also got to talk with Mark Evanier and Sergio Aragones. I would have asked Mark to draw me something but he would have laughed in my face and then want money.

Jimmy Palmiotti: Ghost Rider

I walked down the con's main aisle and saw a guy in a booth sketching so I figured I'd scope his name tag and maybe stand in line. It turned out to be Jimmy Palmiotti and the rest is history.

Dan Brerton: Gunwitch

Dan used a ball point pen on this so it didn't turn out as smooth as it would have with marker but you can't complain. I've never read Nocturnals but I love Dan's work and I'll pick up a copy soon.

Matt Clark: Grey King TK Beam

This is the only published artwork that I own. It appeared on an Overpower card called TK Beam and I bought it in Eugene Oregon for 15 bucks.

Tom Simmons: Grey King TK Beam

Matt Clark pencilled on one side of the sheet in reverse and Tom Simmons used a light box to ink the picture on the opposite side for production.

Ron Lim: Lil' Lobo

Ron Lim was a comic staple in our area after Infinity Gauntlet came out. He revolutionized Silver Surfer and it seemed like everytime he'd appear at a shop, we'd go in and bug him.

Ron Lim: Lil' Guido

When Ron sketched he liked doing Lil' Bigheads. One time he did a birthday sketch for one of us and ended up confiscating our friend's sketchbook to do drawings for everyone.
